They will reach 10 to 40 feet in height and in width when full grown. These bloom intermittently throughout the year. They will grow best in full sun. The measurements on the plants will vary a little but most will be 8 inches tall and 10 inches wide. (Please note the measurements are from the top of the root ball to the top of the plant). Papaya Tree Live Outdoors/Container growing
USD 9.99
Papaya Tree Live Hawaiian Type Should you live in a sub-tropical climate or a zone where your temperature stays above 32?F then you want to consider planting a papaya tree. This fruit is rich in minerals and vitamins A,C and E plus the fruit breaks down carbohydrates and wheat gluten. For those with Celiac disease this is a great fruit to eat. Papayas make excellent container plants if you have the room for them. They are great additions for greenhouses or heated conservatories. This fruit tree is really a fast growing, large herb. It can be short lived if hit by the briefest blast of cold weather. It grows straight and will only branch out when injured. If you plant them remember they like to be warm not only in sunshine but also in reflected heat and putting them against the house will make them happy. Make sure they are out of the wind. Plant them in mounds or against the foundation of a building where you can control the water. They only like well-drained light soil. Too much water will kill them. The soil needs some moisture during hot weather and its needs to be dry in cold weather. You do not need to prune papaya, but some growers will pinch them back to ensure multiple trunks. You can harvest your Papaya when most of the skin is yellow-green. Allow them to ripen at room temperature for several days until they are almost fully yellow and will seem slightly soft to the touch. Now you can store them at 45? F for up to three weeks. You can slice and eat them as fruit or cook to make chutney or serve in salads or with all other kinds of food. Since every part of the Papaya tree and fruit contains latex, do not eat any green papaya raw. In some areas green papayas are boiled and eaten as a vegetable. Our sale Papaya Trees are 6-inches tall actively growing in 2.5-inch pots.

Ready to Plant: A live PINCUSHION Protea Plant from Maui, Hawaii ---in 3.5 inch pot
USD 39.95
The stunning Hawaiian Protea plant is unlike any tropical flower you've ever seen. So exotic and unusual, it was named after a Greek god, Proteus, who could change his physical appearance on a whim. Today, there are over 1400 varieties of Protea with different sizes, shapes, textures and colors. Protea flowers keep unusually long as cut flowers (10-14 days) and are ideal for flower baskets. Hung upside down, they dry beautifully, and are often made into wreaths. Dried, they can last for years. In landscaping: In frost-free regions of the United States, proteas may be planted directly into the ground, making sure your soil is very well drained. Soil pH should be between 5.0 and 6.5. Plant your protea starters in full sun, water regularly---once or twice a week---for the first twelve months. You may expect your first protea blooms in 18-24 months after planting. In a container: Transplant into a one-gallon container with a soil mixture of 1/3 sand, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 redwood shavings or peat moss. Place container in full sun and water once or twice a week in the warm growing months. Fertilize after six months. When the first sign of frost is apparent, move your protea plant into a sheltered environment. When moving indoors, place your plant in the warmest sun exposure possible. Keep plant away from direct heat (heaters, fireplaces, etc.) As soon as weather permits, place your protea plant outside. After growing your plant in a one gallon container for 6-8 months, transplant into a 5-gallon container and repeat the above steps. After approximately 12 months in a 5-gallon container, start to look for your exotic protea to bloom. Flower buds appear in the late fall or early winter.

Propagation: Tip or midsection cuttings with wood 6 - 8 weeks old, 4 - 5 inches long with 2 or 3 sets of leaves. Cuttings may be taken any time of the year, but summer is best. May be propagated by grafting and some cultivars by seeds. Repotting: Every 1-2 years in late winter or spring, following blooming. Well drained soil high in organic matter.
