Far better than 'Bradford Pear'. We also have larger leafed very vertical formed tree . Excellent in flower, like a white forsythia tree. Glossy more rounded leaves than the native. Interesting bark. Very hardy, pollution tolerant, drouth tolerant. We have found that there are some specimens that have a more horizontal habit. They grow almost as wide as the will grow tall. Our plants have this habit and can be pruned hard annually like pseudo bonsai. Full Sun. Good Drainage. Fall color yellow. Grows quickly to 12 ft and slowly to 20 ft. Zone 3-9. Extensively grown in China for use as bonsai, Sageretias are evergreen in milder climates but become deciduous in temperate zones when exposed to the cold of winter. Sageretias will survive temperatures just below freezing but it is highly recommended to keep them in conditions that rarely drop below around 10 C to keep them in continual growth. They are excellent house plants. For most parts of Europe and North America this means growing Sageretias indoors from around September to May. Tree Seeds Paulownia tomentosa (also known as the Empress Tree, Princess Tree or Foxglove Tree; pao tong ?? in Chinese; kiri ? in Japanese) is a deciduous tree in the genus Paulownia, native to central and westernChina, with large heart-shaped to five-lobed leaves 15-40 cm across, arranged in opposite pairs on the stem. On young growth, the leaves may be in whorls of three and be much bigger than the leaves on more mature growth. The characteristic large size of the young growth is exploited by gardeners: by pollarding the tree and ensuring there is vigorous new growth every year, massive leaves are produced (up to 60 cm across). These are popular in the modern style of gardening which uses large-foliaged and "architectural" plants.
