Paph Lynleigh Koopowitz ladyslipper orchid
USD 17.50

This orchid is just a wonderful example of what hybridizing can produce. It's a cross between the charming Vietnamese species delenatii and the wonderful malipoense species orchid found in China. The combination produces one of the loveliest of the primary hybrids. The large-ish flowers range from light green to white, and they are striped in dark red. They are produced one or two to a stem that often stretches out 18 inches tall or more. The dark "raspberry jam" staminode is very striking, too. The dorsals often have a more greenish cast, from the malipoense parent. Lynleigh Koopowitz is also one of the few fragrant paphs, and some people have described the fragrance as being like raspberries and cream. The foliage is beautifully patterned, too. These have a leafspan of 9 or 10 inches. We'll pick out a nice one for you. This is a quality orchid that will give you very rewarding flowers. They are easy to grow and you can care for them in the house. Mounted Encyclia cordigera orchid seedling
USD 12.99

Easy to grow and easy to bloom, this Encyclia species produces very fragrant flowers -- (think intoxicating wisteria or wonderful rose.) The long, arching spikes get larger and more robust as the plant grows up. The flowers are a lovely purple and lavender in color, with an intoxicating fragrance. And there can be 20 to 30 flowers on a spike. A member of the cattleya family, these grow relatively fast to become large specimen plants. This is a large seedling, mounted on a cedar plank. It's near blooming size, which means we think it is likely to flower within the next 12 to 24 months. It is not in flower now. This species is native to areas that include southern Mexico through Central America, the West Indies, and into Colombia and Venezuela. They can be grown under intermediate to warm conditions either in a pot of well-drained medium or mounted. We have a number of these and we always ship the largest. Allow to dry completely between waterings. Morning sun and then bright shade. Fertilize weakly weekly. Rare Baby Orchid Plant - Chysis bractescens - Potted
USD 9.99

Robust growing species, in a genus from Mexico and Central America. Large pseudobulbous plants require a rich almost semi-terrestrial media, well drained, with lots of water and fertilizer when the new growths appear. Chysis bractescens is deciduous, and after the leaves fall, the plant should be dried out, with just sufficient water to prevent shriveling of the bulbs. A repot into fresh media when new leads appear will promote robust growth and flowers. The foliage is much like that of Lycaste, Phaius, and should be protected from excess sunlight.
