Slipper Orchid How do I get my lady slipper orchid to bloom?
The plant is healthy and I have fertilized it and keep it with my African Violets under those light conditions. Anything else I need to do to get the lady slipper to bloom?
Lady slippers are indigenous to cold areas. It needs a cold snap and short days to bring it into bloom. Try leaving it outside for a month if your temperatures at night do not drop below 30 degrees in winter. If it's too cold at night, leave it on the porch or garage where it can be cool for a while.

If I were going to start my orchid collection again, I would start with a least one of these plants. They are easy to grow in the home, they bloom frequently and are just cute flowers! The parents to this popular cross are Paphiopedilum primulinum x Paphiopedilum moquettianum. This is a remake of one of our most "asked for" crosses. The popularity of this cross is due to its ever-blooming habit. Stems bloom for a long time and new stems arise to continue the process. These are vigorous plants and good for beginners. They will grow well on or near a windowsill or under artificial lights. We offer blooming size plants in 2½" pots.
