ORANGE BIRD OF PARADISE STRELITZIA REGINAE BULK 1000 seeds
USD 161.00

Strelitzia reginae is a bold structural plant, which forms large evergreen clumps of stiff leaves growing up from the base. The grey-green banana-like leaves grow about 5' in height and the flowers stand above the foliage at the tips of long stalks. Mature plants are very floriferous with flowers in autumn, winter and spring. Strelitzia reginae is an easy plant to grow in the garden. Plants do well in full sun to semi-shade, love a rich loamy soil and plenty of water throughout the year. They respond well to regular feeding with a slow release fertilizer and compost. They are however very tolerant plants and will thrive in most soils and can survive with very little water once established. The plants are also wind resistant and grow well in coastal gardens. Strelitzias are sensitive to cold and would need a sheltered position in areas with frost as the flowers and leaves are often damaged by frost. In very cold climates it is better to grow them in pots that could be moved indoors when freezing temperatures are expected. Hardy zone 10-11

Datil Pepper - 10 Seeds - Very Hot. Distinctive Taste
USD 1.99

HOT PEPPERS: When Wilbur Scoville first devised a means to test the heat of peppers, his hottest entry then came in at 20,000 units. Habanero and Thai chilies can go as high as 60,000. Compare that to the sweet bell pepper at zero. When hot peppers are consumed, capsaicinoids bind with pain receptors in the mouth and throat that are responsible for sensing heat. Once activated by the capsaicinoids, these receptors send a message to the brain that the person has consumed something hot. The brain responds to the burning sensation by raising the heart rate, increasing perspiration and release of endorphins. Hot peppers should be eaten with caution! Datils are similar to habaneros but have a sweeter, fruitier flavor. Their level of spiciness may be anywhere from 100,000 to 300,000 scoville units. The datil pepper is most commonly used to make a sweet but intense hot sauce, and recipes vary widely. One popular sauce is made with tomato paste and other sweet ingredients including brown sugar and honey. Datil pepper is also used in such St. Augustine specialties as clam chowder, pepper relish, and chicken or sausage pilau. The Datil pepper is grown almost exclusively in the Northern Florida city of St. Augustine. St. Augustine is considered to be the oldest city in the United States, founded in 1565. The state of Florida was claimed for Spain in 1516 by Ponce de Leon in what is now the city of St. Augustine. This is where he is said to have found the famed "Fountain of Youth". Who knows, maybe it was really the peppers! The datil peppers didn't come along until much later, actually. Minorcans, descended from the tiny island of Menorca off the coast of Spain, brought the seeds with them to Florida when they settled in St. Augustine in 1777.

Rainbow Seeds® 100+ Open-pollinated Bright Lights Rainbow Chard Seeds
USD 3.49

Up for bid we have 100+ "Bright Lights" Heirloom Rainbow Chard Seeds. This All-American Award winning swiss chard comes in a beautiful variety of colors. The All America Selections Judges were VERY impressed by the tenderness of its dark green to bronze leaves and the wonder mild chard flavor! The young seedlings respond very well to cut-and-come-again culture and are ideal for mesclun. This amazing chard blend was developed by John Eaton of Lower Hutt, New Zealand, who found the parent plants, a red one and a yellow one, in a small home garden in 1977 and crossed them to standard green and white varieties, selecting for color and flavor over the next fifteen years. Johnny's worked the following years to preserve the strength and range of the individual colors. With enough moisture this plant can be grown all year long without bolting. It is a very easy to grow plant and will do very well in your garden or in containers. You can plant this variety outside very early in the spring. Up to 3-4 weeks before the average last frost date. Soak your seeds in water prior to planting. The chard seed is actually a dried fruit that contains multiple seeds, so it is very important to thin your plants. If multiple sprouts emerge from your single seed, thin right away to a single sprout. It grows best in full sun, but can do ok in partial shade.

800 Seeds, California Bluebells (Phacelia campanolaria) Seeds By Seed Needs
USD 1.85

The California bluebell is native to the deserts of California as the name would imply. Its blooms are a vibrant cobalt blue, and it is one of the few wildflower seeds that can grow in to a good cutflower. Darkness and shade are two important factors that can help California bluebell wild flower seed to germinate. Hot days and cold nights, in conjunction with full sun or partial shade provide the best growing conditions. It should be planted in well-drained soil, although it needs little water. This particiular wildflower can even grow in sandy type soil and still be productive. Grows best when planted in spring and in full sun in desert like areas; however, it responds well to normal rainfall and watering. It is best to start this wildflower seed outdoors because optimum temperatures are around 50 to 55 degrees for germination. Unless you like your house cold, plant outside! - California bluebells grow well directly outdoors from wildflower seeds. Sow about 1/16" deep before the last frost of spring. This annual wildflower grows very quickly and blooms very early in the spring and can reseed itself if seed falls onto bare ground. Will grow in all regions of North America, but is native to southwestern deserts. California bluebells and other Phacelia like to grow in sunny areas with a soil pH between 6.5 to 7. The soil type is not too important as stated above it can actually grow in sandy soil. Bluebells typically takes from 15 - 30 days for their wild flower seeds to germinate once the temperature reaches 50 to 55 degrees F.

Weeping Bottlebrush Tree 50+ seeds
USD 1.99

Callistemon Viminalis-The weeping bottlebrush is typically a small tree with pendulous foliage although some forms are more pendulous than others. It reaches a height of about 10 meters in its natural habitat but is usually smaller in cultivation, particularly in temperate areas where it is an attractive and reliable small tree for street planting. Once established, however, it is able to tolerate extended dry periods. The plant performs best in medium to heavy soils and can tolerate less than perfect drainage but may be damaged by moderate to heavy frost. It responds to annual fertilizing after flowering. Although the plant will respond to pruning, this can have the effect of destroying the appearance of weeping forms. In common with other bottlebrushes, plants flower best in a sunny location but they will tolerate considerable shade at the expense of flowering performance.

** 5 FRENCH LILAC BUSH SEEDS ** SHOWY ** #1146
USD 1.65

**I LOVE plants that can be neglected and still thrive well!** 5 FRENCH LILAC BUSH SEEDS This popular variety is the old fashion French Lilac or Common Lilac. It grows 10 to 15 feet in height with a spread of 6 to 12 feet. The lilac colored flowers are extremely fragrant and appear in early to mid-May on panicles 4 to 8 inches long. These respond well to pruning and can be grown as a shrub or small tree. These also make for a great flowering bonsai. Hardy to zone 3. Lilacs are among the most popular cultivated shrubs in the temperate world. Aside from roses, there is no flower as beautiful and aromatic. There is nothing better than the sweet scent of a freshly picked bouquet of lilacs in early spring. Lilacs are seldom bothered by pests, easy to grow and are renowned for their showy fragrant flowers produced profusely in spring to early summer. All make great specimen plants. Even when the flowers drop, the foliage continues to make the lilac an attractive shrub/tree for the remainder of the growing season.

Bird of Paradise White 10 Seeds Showy Tropical Flowers
USD 0.99

Bird of paradise tree is a spectacular accent plant. Use in pairs as sentinels guarding entries and gateways. Also a great plant for large containers situated both outdoors or inside. Indeed, large populations of bird of paradise tree now inhabit shopping malls all over the country. It's size and bulk make it suitable for large-scale commercial landscapes, golf courses, parks, campuses and mall food courts. The "big bird" likes enriched moisture-retentive soils. It responds enthusiastically to fertilizer, so feed about once a month during the warm growing season to stimulate rapid growth. When plants attain desired size you can withold fertilizer to slow growth and keep plant in scale. Light: Full sun to part shade. My observations indicate that the handsomest specimens are those that receive some shade during the heat of the day. Moisture: Water when dry. Does not like saturated conditions. Hardiness: USDA Zones 9 - 11. This plant is hardier than S. regina - it can handle brief periods of frost with no damage. Leaf damage occurs at temperatures below 28 F but plant will recover.
