USD 29.95

Silphium - Cup Plant - 400 Seeds
USD 8.99
Silphium perfoliatum, or commonly known as Cup Plant, is a towering plant that is often found growing in tall grass prairies in the Midwestern United States. This perennial has a long tap root and many smaller rhizomes which help to spread the plants. When growing in the wild, Cup Plant can establish colonies due to its ability to spread. The large leaves are formed opposite of each other and are connected at their base to form a sort of "cup". Morning dew collects in the cups and birds and insects often use the source for drinking water. The showy blooms measure 3 - 4 inches across and attract bees and butterflies. It is recommended to give Cup Plant seed a cold treatment to aid in the germination process. Either plant the seed directly outdoors in the late fall or moisten the seed in a paper towel, seal the seed and moist paper towel in a plastic bag and place it in the refrigerator for 60 days before planting outdoors in the spring after danger of frost has passed. Press the seed into the soil and cover with ¼ inch of soil. With a temperature of 68F, germination is usually within 28 days. Grow Cup Plant in full sun and in loamy, moist soil. Space plants 15 - 18 inches apart. Approximately 2,000 seeds per ounce.

Large Staghorn Fern Mounted - EXOTIC - Great Houseplant!
USD 39.99
Platycerium biforcatum (Exotic Staghorn Fern). The staghorn fern is an epiphyte that lives in the tropical forests of southeast Asia and Australia. This plant has a short rhizome from which both sterile and fertile fronds sprout. The sterile fronds are rounded and form a sort of involucre which encases the branch on which the plant is attached. From these sprout the fronds which carry the reproductive apparatus, recognizable by a sort of rusty down situated in the ventral part of the plant. The fronds are long, wide, and laciniated at the top. Staghorn Fern is one of the more unusual house plants. It grows without its roots in soil and produces 2 types of fronds. One type is the branched frond that gives the plant its name. The other round, flat frond forms a collar around the branched fronds. The round frond may be 3 to 4 inches across on young plants but 3 to 4 feet across on older plants. Ideal temperatures are between 60 degrees and 80 degrees. It prefers bright, but indirect light.

CREPE GINGER Costus speciosus attractive shrub 10 seeds
USD 1.50
Crepe ginger grows from thick fleshy roots called "rhizomes", similar in appearance to the "ginger root" found in grocery stores. They may be purchased as potted plants or as bare rhizomes, and they are easy to grow either way. Plant the rhizome about 1 in (2.5 cm) below the surface in a sandy loam or clay soil that has been improved with leaf mold or well composted manure. A single rhizome will produce new shoots and increase to a 3 ft wide clump in the second year under ideal growing conditions. Light: Prefers part sun but will grow in full sun if it gets plenty of moisture. Moisture: Requires regular moisture but not standing water. This is the most cold-hardy of the spiral gingers, and has been tested and proven root hardy down to 0ºF (-17.8ºC). Hardiness: USDA Zones 6 - 11.
