Back in the 1800?s the prize of every gardener was a gigantic turnip. 33 lbs. monsters were quite common and a grower in California was said to have grown a turnip of over 99 lbs. in 1850! Consumed by livestock, is of very high quality in turnips in relation to that of other commonly grown plants. Grazing animals consume the stems, leaves, and roots of the plants. These plants have unlimited uses due to their multiple edible parts, and their nutritional benefits are of great value to both humans and animals. Rare Red Yellow Wisteria Hybrid Tree 10 Seeds Mimosa
USD 4.00

These are a hybrid from the scarlet wisteria and yellow wisteria trees- these are also called "Rattlebox Trees" because of the noise the seeds make. These are a true specialty rare bloom! They look like the cross between the orange/ red and the yellow and there are 6 or 7 different color combinations of these. I am mixing the seeds so you can get any of the combination of colors in the pictures! There are some with more red and just yellow hints and others with lots of yellow and just a hint of red. These are a real beauty when they bloom! These are in the mimosa family (bean family). They can be grown in full sun to partial shade. USDA Zones 8- 11. These will get 15- 20 feet high and 10 to 15 feet wide when fully grown. They can grow up to 3 feet a year! These seeds were freshly picked the first week of August 2011 and have been "floated" to check for viability. These seeds don't require much to start growing- just some good dirt, peat moss, or other medium (we used old sawdust) with good drainage, a little water (don't drown them!) and they will take off!! They are very quick growers!!

Trinidad Red 7 Pot Hot Pepper 10+ Seeds "Rare" 7 Pots of Chile with One Pepper!
USD 1.95

This variety is from the Chaguanas area of Trinidad and is extremely rare. It has built up an almost myth like quality (although they do exist!) In Caribbean regions it is also known as 7 pot as one pod is said to provide enough heat to spice up 7 pots of stew. Pods are habenaro like in there shape but have the characteristic 'pimpling' as found on another fearsome variety - the Naga Morich. Unusually the proportion of Placental tissue is very high - a allusion to why this pepper is so outrageously hot? 'Genuine' pods (and therefore seeds) are almost impossible to find

Botanical Interest - Kale Red Winter (Certified Organic)
USD 1.89

Kale Red Winter Organic Seed Brassica - oleracea Red Winter is an improved version of Red Russian Kale. This rare strain of kale has VERY tender, sweet leaves compared to other kale's. The reddish-purple stems and veins, wavy margins, and foliage that resembles oak leaves makes Red Winter almost dramatic-looking in the garden! Young leaves are very attractive in salads and mesclun mixes. It makes a nice garnish and can be used in any dish that calls for kale. When to plant outside: Early spring when soil temperatures are at least 60 degrees for a late spring/summer crop, in late summer for a fall crop, or (in USDA zone 7 or warmer) you can sow in fall for a winter or very early spring crop. Seed can also be sown in successive plantings every 3 weeks starting in early spring. When to start inside: 10 weeks before the average last spring frost and transplant outdoors 6-8 weeks later. Special Sowing & Germination Instructions: Easy to grow from seed. Thin seedlings by pinching off plant at soil surface, thus decreasing damage to other seedlings. Protect seedlings with caps in early spring if temperatures fall below 30 degrees. Rotate crops, so you dont have any members of the mustard family in the same place more than once every three years. (Mustard family incudes: alyssum, iberis, nasturtium, arugula, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, kohlrabi, kale, and mustard). Harvesting: Kale can be harvested two ways: 1) Cut the entire plant off at ground level 6-8 weeks after seeding or 2) strip the lower leaves off the plant periodically. Plants often over winter outside (even in the north). Mulch thickly when the ground freezes, and you can harvest again in early spring.
