Blue Japanese Wisteria Vine 5 Seeds - Hard to Find! Rare
USD 1.99

Japanese Wisteria (Wisteria floribunda). Japanese wisteria was brought from Japan to the United States in 1860 by George Rogers Hall. Since then, it has become one of the most highly romanticized flowering garden plants. It is also a common subject for bonsai, along with Wisteria sinensis(Chinese wisteria) The flowering habit of Japanese wisteria is perhaps the most spectacular of the Wisteria family. It sports the longest flower racemes of any wisteria; they can reach nearly half a meter in length. These racemes burst into great trails of clustered blue flowers in early- to mid-spring. The flowers carry a distinctive fragrance similar to that of grapes. Japanese wisteria can grow over 30m long over many supports via powerful clockwise-twining stems. The foliage consists of shiny, dark-green, pinnately compound leaves 10-30cm in length. The leaves bear 9-13 oblong leaflets that are each 2-6 cm long. It also bears brown, velvety, bean-like seed pods 5-10cm long that mature in summer and persist until winter. Japanese wisteria prefers moist soils and full sun in USDA plant hardiness zones 5-9. The plant often lives over fifty years.

USD 1.79

*GROWN ON OUR FARM HERE IN TENNESSEE* Although the fern can look like a tangle of antlers at first, on closer inspection one can see the impressive 'nest' frond which can be 1m across at maturity. This 'nest' frond is designed to collect falling leaves and insects. These give the fern a valuable source of potassium and calcium, nutrients required for the production of their large fronds. It is from this frond that the fern attaches itself to the host tree. It protectively wraps around the rhizome and short roots, clasping onto the furrows in the bark with root like structures. Staghorn ferns are epiphytic perennials or "air" plants. Staghorns are native to jungles in Africa, Madagascar, Australia, Tropical Asia and one species (Andinum) is from South America, Peru and Bolivia..!!! They get their nutrition substantially from the air. Pretty amazing, eh? with no soil Platycerium superbum (soo-PURR-bum, not SOO-purr-bum) is easily the most sought after species of staghorn !!!!! The Staghorn Fern is very common in cultivation, and is regarded as one of the world's most spectacular ferns! (These are not terrestrial plants (growing by rooting in the ground) but rather they are like orchids, they are Epiphytes. They grow in the crook of a branch of a tree. They do not put roots into the host, they are not parasites. They only live on the other plant, taking nourishment from the dropping, decaying leaves/insects of the host plant.) (Staghorns are native to jungles in Africa, Madagascar, Australia, Tropical Asia and one species (Andinum) is from South America, Peru and Bolivia.
