Success With Succulents
USD 19.95
Success With Succulents Succulents are among the easiest plants to propagate and grow, and thus make excellent projects for both beginning and advanced gardeners. This DVD will show even beginners who have never grown a plant in their life how to easily and succussfully grow succulents. Succulents appeal to us because they are so different from most other plants in our world. The succulents of the tropics and subtropics even expand our concept of what a plant should look like. If ever you saw an alien creature, it might not look any stranger than a succulent. Succulents can be grown indoors or out, and will thrive in a wide range of outdoor climates. This program was designed to give viewers a look at the huge variety of fascinating succulents and to spark their interest in growing and propagating these interesting plants. You will learn about: –> soil and potting media, and how you can easily and inexpensively make your own; –> watering both indoor and outdoor plants; –> how to select containers and how to properly plant your succulents for long term success; –> fertilizers for succulents; temperature requirements; –> the key methods of propagating succulents. (Most are very easy to do.); –> and much more. Everything necessary to successfully select, grow, pot and propagate succulents is clearly explained and illustrated. The technical advisor on this program is Daniel Lassanske, professor of horticulture at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obipo. He is widely recognized and admired for his knowledge of growing succulents, as well as his dedication to horticultural education. This DVD is closed captioned for the hearing impaired.

256 Beautiful Succulent Wedding Favors and Gifts plants
USD 265.00
A succulent is any plant with thick, fleshy (succulent) water storage organs. Succulents store water in their leaves, their stems or their roots. These plants have adapted to survive arid conditions throughout the world, from Africa to the deserts of North America. Fortunately for us, this adaptive mechanism has resulted in an incredible variety of interesting leaf forms and plant shapes, including paddle leaves, tight rosettes, and bushy or trailing columns of teardrop leaves. Succulents should be watered generously in the summer. The potting mix should be allowed to dry between waterings, but do not underwater. During the winter, when the plants go dormant, cut watering back to once every other month. Overwatering and ensuing plant rot is the single most common cause of plant failure. A succulent should never be allowed to sit in water. *Enjoy your beautiful plant!*

MONTHLY SPECIAL - 1,000 Aloe Seeds Mix - Excellent House Plants succulent 4 Greenhouse home ALOE VERA
USD 45.00
ORIGINALLY @ $60.00 ~!! Aloe Seeds Mix - Excellent House Plants This is a very popular diverse mixture which includes the Aloe vera .The aloe is a succulent plant, with leaves that can hold water for long periods at a time. Too much water can rot the plant, and it would take the most severe drought to dry it out. The plant's only other enemy is cold. It will do quite well next to a window with even minimal light, but it prefers bright, indirect lighting. An aloe plant is a welcome friend in the kitchen. When you need to use it medicinally, just remove a lower leaf from the plant, slice it open, and apply the gel on the affected area. Perennial Sun/shade Zones: 9-11 INTERESTING HISTORY OF ALOE VERA: The name was derived from Arabic meaning "bitter" because of the bitter liquid found in the leaves. In 1500 B.C. Egyptians recorded use of the herbal plant in treating burns, infections and parasites. Egyptian Queens Cleopatra and Nefertiti both gave tribute to aloe vera as one of their most important beauty secrets. Alexander the Great carried the aloe vera plant into battle to treat wounded soldiers. The plant dates back 6,000 years, and has been in use for all that time. Ancient Greeks, Arabs and Spaniards have used the plant throughout the millennia. African hunters still rub the gel on their bodies to reduce perspiration and their scent. Historical uses Historical use of various Aloe species by humans is well documented. Documentation of the clinical effectiveness is available, although relatively limited. Of the 299 species of Aloe, only a few were used traditionally as a herbal medicine, aloe vera again being the most commonly used version of aloe in herbal medicine. Also included are Aloe perryi (found in northeastern Africa) and Aloe ferox (found in South Africa). The Greeks and Romansused aloe vera to treat wounds. In the Middle Ages, the yellowish liquid found inside the leaves was favored as a purgative.

Instant Cactus/Succulent Collection - 10 Plants - 1" pots
USD 19.99
You will get an assortment, 10 different species of Cacti and Succulents growing in 1" pots, similar to the ones pictured. Cacti & Succulent Care Many people tend to think that cacti and succulents are too difficult to care for and decide against even buying them. As it turns out, many people are simply caring for them too much or too often. Cacti and succulents will do quite well under the same conditions which would be considered neglect with other plants. -Watering- The most common problem people have with cacti and succulent plants is overwatering. They are 'water storing' plants and will do better with less water than they will with more. Since every situation is considerably different, there is not set time interval for when to water cacti and succulents. Many factors play a role in the timing (such as humidity, light, and temperature). General Rule: Water Cacti and succulents thouroghly and allow them to dry out completely between watering.

Hens & Chicks 25 Plants - Semperviven - Very Hardy!
USD 34.99
Sempervivum are succulent, rosette forming plants belonging to the Crassulaceae family. They are commonly known as Hens & Chicks, Houseleeks or Hen and Chickens. The main attraction of these plants is their colourful rosettes of leaves. These range from bright yellow, through various shades of green, grey, pink, purple, red, orange and brown, to almost black in some varieties. The leaves may be dull or glossy, or covered with soft down or longer hairs. Small silvery hairs are commonly found along the leaf margins and in many varieties the leaf tips bear a tuft of longer hairs that can form a "cobweb" over the surface of the rosettes. Leaf shape can also vary from short, succulent, almost round leaves to long, tapering, finely pointed ones. The rosettes are most striking in the spring and summer but even in the winter when growth stops, many varieties remain attractively coloured. It is the endless range of different leaf shapes, colours and textures that make this group so interesting to enthusiasts. Hens & Chicks are found growing naturally in mountainous regions so they are adapted to withstand extremes of temperature. They do not like damp or shaded conditions so they should be grown in a well drained soil and exposed to full sunlight. A south facing bank or rockery is ideal. Hens & Chicks can be grown in pots, planted out in rockeries, walls, sink gardens and flower beds where they will soon develop into attractive cushions of rosettes. Sempervivums will grow in almost any type of soil provided that it is well drained and in a sunny position.
