Bird of Paradise Plant YELLOW flowered - very rare
USD 8.95

'Mandela's Gold' Bird of Paradise is a yellow variant of Strelitzia reginae This work was done by John Winter, the curator of the botanical gardens at Kirstenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa. In 1994, there was sufficient stock of seeds to grow the plant commercially. Originally, the name Strelitzia reginae 'Kirstenbosch Gold' was awarded but was later changed Strelitzia reginae 'Mandela's Gold' in honor of Nelson Mandela. Will grow up to 4 foot tall, and is hardy to 20 - 25 degrees or zone 9 and above. Ideal conditions are full sun, rich, well-drained loam soil with a pH of approximately 7.5, regular deep watering in summer and liberal applications of fertilizer in early summer. May be grown indoors or out. Related to Heliconias and Bananas, the Yellow Bird of Paradise looks similar to the orange form, but it slightly smaller. It blooms throughout the year in mild climates. The tall flower stalks rise above the foliage, with a beak-like spathe growing outward, about 6 inches in length. The bright yellow sepals spread out to invite birds to perch on the blue petals, which contain nectar. The blooms make very long lasting cut flowers. This sale item is a starter plant about 4-6 inches tall and is actively growing in a 2.5-inch pot. Checkout our other items, we also stock the Orange and White varieties of Bird of Paradise.

Clematis 'Belle of Woking' Plant
USD 29.95

Introduced in 1875, this rare heirloom bears fluffy, fully double, 4-inch pompons that are unlike any other large-flowered hybrid. Their delicate complexion of palest pink fades to soft silvery-mauve, creating an unforgettable effect as great clouds appear in early summer and seem to glow in morning and at dusk. It reaches 6 to 8 feet tall, making it an ideal choice for containers, borders, or threading through open-habit shrubs like roses. Clematis is easy to grow in a rich, porous, alkaline soil with plenty of room for the roots to spread. Best performance is when the tops are in full sunlight and the roots are shaded, so apply a generous mulch or a shallow-rooted ground cover near the base of the vine. Very reliable performers once established, they take a season or two to get going. 'Belle of Woking' is a Group II Clematis for pruning purposes, which means that in early spring you should cut back the vine 6 or 8 inches to the nearest pair of strong leaf axil buds. Zones 4-9.

Rare Black Rabbit's Foot Fern 3" pot - Davallia - Easter Plant
USD 7.99

FERN: A fern is any one of a group of about 12,000 species of plants. Unlike mosses they have xylem and phloem (making them vascular plants). They have stems, leaves, and roots like other vascular plants. Ferns do not have either seeds or flowers (they reproduce via spores). Known for its brown fuzzy rhizomes. Curiously, 'Black Rabbits Foot' is a brighter shade of green than "White Rabbits Foot'. Both are excellent terrarium or houseplant specimens that grow well under low light, high humidity conditions. To me, the foliage resembles carrot tops.
