David's Non-Hybrid Texas Native Wildflower Bluebonnet (Fabaceae) 40 Seeds per Packet

David's Native Texas Lawn and Garden Mix Habiturf 10 Ounces per Order
USD 29.95

Habiturf Native Lawn Mix is a three way mix of Buffalograss, Blue Grama, and Curly Mesquite that requires less mowing, watering and weeding by simulating nature's short grass prairie. These grasses have similar shaped leaves and color to produce a great looking, even textured, native lawn. The Native Lawn Mix requires 6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day to do well. Planting rate is 3 to 4 pounds per 1000 sq ft. A portion of all sales will be donated for research to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center by the grower. Seeds are bought in bulk from a local grower and hand packed into smaller packages. If you need more than a couple of pounds contact us for a bulk rate. Growing Instructions: Plant 3 to 4 pounds per 1000 square feet. A well-textured, well-drained soil is essential for long term lawn success. But a sustainable lawn needs deep roots, so rip, rotovate or disk your soil to at least 8" - the deeper the better. Then incorporate a 1/2" of living compost with a low nitrogen and low phosphorus content into the top 3" of your prepared soil. If you are on undisturbed, uncompacted native soils then till lightly and add 1/4" compost into the top 1" or alternatively add a compost tea. Sow the seed and rake and press it into soil for good soil-seed contact. Early spring is the best planting time once soil temperatures pick-up. Later in the growing season will work but takes more water.

David's Non-Hybrid Texas Native Wildflower Alamo Fire/Maroon Lupinus texensis (Fabaceae) 40 Seeds per Packet
USD 6.95

A Bluebonnet with an "Attitude" for the 21st Century. The original plant was found in the wild near San Antonio, Texas. Texas Maroon Bluebonnets usually cannot survive in areas that have flat terrain or soils with poor drainage. Well-drained areas such as a 6 to 8 inch raised flower bed, sloping hillsides or half wooden barrels are excellent areas to sow your Texas Maroon Bluebonnets to increase success. WHEN AND WHERE TO PLANT: Select a location that is well-drained and receives a minimum of 8 hours of direct sunlight per day. For best results sow seed in the fall months; September 1 thru December 1. Loosen soil with rake or hoe. Smooth surface to remove any clumps or debris. Broadcast seed over the prepared area (1 ounce covers 75 sq. ft.). Roll or press the seed into the soil no deeper than 1/8". Some of the seed will remain visible. Keep the soil moist until plants begin to grow. CARE: Requires little care. Water only as necessary. NOTE: If cross-pollination occurs, the next generation of seed from the Maroon Bluebonnets may contain some purple or blue flowers within the population. In order to keep the Maroon Bluebonnets true to color (maroon), any plants that bloom in shades of purple or blue should be removed from the site as soon as the buds open to avoid cross-pollination. Average Planting Success: 60% Height: 1---2 feet Germination: 15---75 days Optimum Soil Temp. for Germination: 55°F--70°F Sowing Depth: 1/8" Blooming Period: March--May Suggested Use: Raised flower beds, half wooden barrels, hanging baskets, mixtures, hillsides, roadsides and meadows.
