Lc. Mary Elizabeth Bohn 'Royal Flare' AM/AOS, will produce lovely blue flowers
USD 22.50

If you like blue orchid flowers (and who doesn't) then this orchid is for you. The flowers are just spectacular, and mature plants are noted for having lots of fragrant blooms. This used to be called a laeliacattleya, hence the Lc. designation. Nowdays it is more properly called a Cattlianthe. The breeding is Cattlianthe Blue Boy x Guarianthe bowringiana. The ones we have are clones of the Royal Flare' award winner. The judges described it this way: "Eleven flowers on one inflorescence; flowers soft blue; petals a darker lavender-blue at center; lip light cobalt blue; flowers large, well displayed on a long stem, with an attractive symmetrical arrangement; form, texture, and substance good." These are large plants in 3.5 inch pots and they have reached blooming size. The longest leaves are 10 to 12 inches and we think they could bloom almost anytime now. These tend to be fall bloomers. The first picture shows a typical flower; the second picture shows the kind of plant you are purchasing. We have a number of these and we'll pick out a nice one for you. Allow to dry completely between waterings. Morning sun and then bright shade. Fertilize weakly weekly. A mature plant like this in bloom at an orchid show would cost $50 or more. You can buy with confidence. We guarantee customer satisfaction upon delivery. At The Orchid Gallery, we offer quality plants and friendly, personalized service. Our grower inspects every plant we ship.
