how do i Plant Seeds?
i just bought BOLUSANTHU speciosus (tree wisteria) seeds and LEPTOSPERMUM rotundifolium (tea-tree) seeds.
whats the right way to plant these types? and where shouldi keep the pots?
The Bolusanthu seed are popular with bonzai growers. Is that why you bought them?
If its Winter time or Winter is about to set in then you need to wait until the weather warms up in late spring.
The seeds should be sown on the surface of a moist, soilless compost (it's been sterilised) covered to their own depth. If the seeds are a millimeter thick then they should be covered with a millimeter of soil. Place inside a Polythene bag and seal the end . The bag should 'fog-up' with condensation within 24 hours, if not remove bag and stand the container in a tray of water until the soil surface glistens. Replace in the bag and do not remove until the seeds germinate.
On no account should you water or sprinkle water on from above as you will be encouraging "damping off" a fungal disease.
The seed container, bag etc. should be put in a well lit place with a steady temperature. When the seedlings emerge remove the polythene bag, provide plenty of light, but not bright sunshine, to ensure that sturdy seedlings develop.
Continue to water from below until the seedlings are large enough to be transplanted into individual pots.
