(Can be brought through the winter in Zone 8 if it is well protected, kept dry, and mulched.) These plants only reach a height of up to 4 feet (the leaves only reach up to 2 feet, but the flower stalk may rise up another 2 feet above the leaves) and up to 3 feet wide. I do only ship live plants on Monday and Tuesday and occasionally on Wednesday so they arrive to you before the weekend! Please be sure that after you receive the tracking information that you have someone to receive the package so it does not sit in the hot sun and bake in the box all day! Some of the plants you receive may still have some white residue on them from the last spray to control the fungus, pests, and to fertilize the plants. This residue is normal and will wear off in time. We guarantee that our plants will arrive alive to your destination if removed immediately upon arrival. We're sorry, but we do not ship these plants to California, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico due to restrictions by their Departments of Agriculture. Variegated Japanese Iris Plant - AGM WINNER - Ensata - Gallon Pot
USD 12.50

IRIS: Iris is a genus of between 200-300 species of flowering plants with showy flowers. It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, referring to the wide variety of flower colors found among the many species. A must have perennial, the iris tolerates wet, boggy areas and is very adaptable to a variety of soil types. Blue flowers with white, variegated leaves. Japanese Iris (Iris ensata - formerly Iris kaempferi) blooms are captivating and graceful. Their superior size and colors are worth the efforts of cultivation. Their blooms are often saucer-size or larger, colors of white, shades of blue and purple, red-violet and are often veined or marbled with a contrasting color. Bloom time is late June to mid-July, depending upon daily temperature. Flowers may be single, semi-double or peony like. In their native habitat, these iris grow in wet or moist places, even rice paddies. However, here they need full sun, moderately moist, humus-rich soil, free of lime.
