Hydrangea Plant

Hydrangea Plant
what is the life span of a hydrangea macroplla plant?

it's for my college work !

Hydrangeas are relatively easy to grow. They are hardy in most gardens in USDA zones 6 through 10, though those that bloom only from tip growth may never bloom where heavy freezing is common. Hydrangeas have a long life span, so it advisable to have some idea of the size to which your plant will grow before choosing a site. Read More: http://wvgardengate.homestead.com/HYDRANGEAS.htm

However, the French Hydrangea Macrophylla, has a Moderate life span relative to most other plant species and a Rapid growth rate. At maturity, the typical French Hydrangea will reach up to 4 feet high, with a maximum height at 20 years of 4 feet.

The pictures show one of the actual plants that will ship. The plants are left in the pots until agreement and payment to purchase has been received. Then they are pulled from the pot, wrapped in plastic with some of the dirt mixture to keep it somewhat moist and packaged to ship. They will ship USPS Priority mail that day. I do only ship live plants on Monday and Tuesday and occasionally Wednesday if your address is close so they arrive to you before the weekend! Please be sure that after you receive the tracking information that you have someone to receive the package so it does not sit in the hot sun and bake in the box all day! We are licensed in the state of Georgia as a nursery and are inspected as such. Some of the plants you receive may still have some white residue on them from the last spray to control the fungus, pests, and to fertilize the plants. This residue is normal and will wear off in time. We guarantee that our plants will arrive alive to your destination if removed immediately upon arrival. We're sorry, but we do not ship these plants to California, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico due to restrictions by their Departments of Agriculture. Due to numerous postal problems, we now require all of our plants to ship with insurance so that price is also included!

Firefly Creme & Green Hydrangea Vine - Hardy/Shade
USD 9.99

Hydrangea is a genus of about 100 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia (from Japan to China, the Himalaya and Indonesia) and North and South America. Hydrangeas produce flowers from early spring to late autumn. The flowers of Hydrangea are carried in bunches, at the ends of the stems. Each individual Hydrangea flower is relatively small. However, the display of color is enhanced by a ring of modified bracts around each flower. In most species of Hydrangea the flowers are white, but in some species, can be blue, red, pink, or purple. In Hydrangea species the exact color often depends upon the acidity or alkalinity of the soil. Acidic soils produce blue flowers, neutral soils produce pale cream petals, and alkaline soils result in pink or purple. A new yellow variegated climbing Hydrangea. In the spring this plant really shines. As summer progresses the gold margin turns to chartreuse. Plant on an oak tree or on a westward brick wall. It will take your breath away. Plus lacy white flowers in June.

Annabelle Hydrangea
USD 15.95

These are large plants that will bloom profusely this year. Annabelle is a stunning white hydrangea, often producing heads over 10 in. in diameter. Unlike the better known blue and pink hydrangeas (macrophyllas), Annabelle blooms every year even after severe pruning or intensely cold winters. The huge, white drumstick blooms appear in profusion without fail. This spectacular hydrangea is the one we recommend for customers in colder climates because it flowers on the current year's growth. Some say it is hardy even into Zones 2 and 3 in the United States (authorities say to Zone 3). Cut to the ground at the end of winter, it can achieve a height of six feet and bear masses of huge rounded heads of white flowers up to ten inches across. Uncut, the shrub can reach ten feet or more, but the flower heads tend to be smaller. Some people plant 'Annabelle' as a hedge since it can be cut back severely in the winter for a tidy effect. Forms of H. arborescens are actually native to eastern parts of the United States. If your climate is too harsh to grow macrophyllas, 'Annabelle' would make a wonderful alternative. These will be shipped in trade gallon containers with soilless media and 9 months slow release fertilizer.
