Bonsai Boy's Flowering Mimosa mimosa pudica
USD 29.95

Mimosa Pudica has been and remains to be one of the most fascinating plants in that it has a unique ability to fold its leaves when touched or disturbed. It remains unknown why this plant has developed this interesting behavior, perhaps it is a defensive mechanism. Apart from this fascinating behavior of folding its leaves and moving its branches, this species also displays beautiful pink powder-puff like blooms throughout most of the year. These flowers then develop into little pods that the new seeds eventually grow in, which can be seen in the image if you look closely. Easy indoor care.

Bonsai Boy's Flowering Texas Ebony Pithecolobium Flexicaule
USD 69.95

Acacia/Mimosa family. Native to Texas and Mexico and is ideal for dry, indoor locations. The short branches are clothed in tiny dark green, bi-pinnate (compound) leaflets and make a wide rounded canopy which casts a filtered shade below. Leaves fold up at night or in subdued light. Touching the leaves does not put it to sleep as in some Mimosa. Short thorns are interspersed among the branches. From June to August is decorated with dense, plume-like spikes of very fragrant, light yellow to white blossoms at the end of its branches. Dark brown woody seed capsules follow the blooms and persist on the tree for weeks. In Mexico these seed pods are eaten and the shells roasted and used as a coffee substitute.

MIMOSA PUDICA, SENSITIVE PLANT BULK 100 seeds
USD 14.00

Native to Brazil, this peculiar evergreen shrub is usually grown as an annual in most zones. Throughout the summer they produce numerous fluffy, ball shaped pale lilac pink flowers. It is often grown for its curiosity value - the fern like leaves close up when touched and re-open within minutes, hence the common name Sensitive Plant. Easy to grow from seed, Sensitive Plants are adaptable to most soils in an open, sunny position and due to its ability to fix nitrogen from the air it even does well in poor soils. Hardy to zone 9 where they grow to a large 5-6' shrub, these are much more compact when grown as annuals and normally reach an height of 15-18 inches. These also make great potted plants and are easily grown inside as year round houseplants in northern zones. zone 9-11

Mimosa Pudica - 2000 Seeds
USD 8.99

Sensitive Plant (Mimosa Pudica) - This very unique flower plant may scare you when you touch it! It has movements called seismonastic movements (reaction to physical shock). At night, the leaves will also fold and bend in movements known as nyctonastic movements (reaction to absence of light). In this family the leaves and leaflets are often capable of movement due to changes in the water pressure of the swollen leaf and leaflet bases. The leaves assume a folded or \sleeping\" posture at the end of the day that is triggered by a decrease in light level. However, the sensitive plant is also capable of rapid movement in response to touch or application of heat."
