150 Seeds, Cosmos "Gloria" (Cosmos bipinnatus) Seeds By Seed Needs
USD 1.65

Cosmos is one of the easiest flower seeds to grow. Just direct sow in early spring after the danger of frost has passed. Seedlings are not winter hardy. Sow in full sun or very light shade to get the most out of your Cosmos seed. Prefers well drained soils so avoid heavy clay areas. You do not need to fertilize cosmos. This will just give you too much foliage and not enough flower. Rich, fertile soils tend to produce unusually tall, lanky plants with few blooms which causes the plants become top heavy and fall over. Cosmos can be a great cut flower with a vase life of 5-7 days. Harvest the blooms in the early morning hours, and select stems with flowers that have just opened. Remove the leaves below the water line. Generally trouble free, seldom falling prey to disease or insects, and they do not mind being crowded. Optimum sowing depth is approximately 1/16" with a soil temperature of 70 degrees.

Happiest in full sun, they'll grow in part shade without getting as tall. Attracts birds, bees and butterflies.
