Coil Recoiling
got my go kart going working now my pull string broke how do i restring it please help i am almost there.?
the string broke toward the end of the coil i have enough to restring it but cant figure out how to recoil it the right way does any one know how to do it
sorry this is a horazontal engine made by briggs and stratton 5 hp
You have to take the cover off the engine. 5 or 6 bolts. 3/8 or 7/16 wrench should do the job I think. Using a large flat blade screw driver you have to pry up the retaining clips on the string pully. Pull the pully out and restring with a new cord through the motor cover first then around the pully. Then when putting it all back you have to coil the spring enough so when you have it back together it has the tension enough to pull the cord all the way back in. Remember to press down the retaining clips to hold in the pully when you put the motor cover back on and retighten the bolts. Good Luck.
