ORANGE BIRD OF PARADISE STRELITZIA REGINAE BULK 1000 seeds
USD 160.00
Strelitzia reginae is a bold structural plant, which forms large evergreen clumps of stiff leaves growing up from the base. The grey-green banana-like leaves grow about 5' in height and the flowers stand above the foliage at the tips of long stalks. Mature plants are very floriferous with flowers in autumn, winter and spring. Strelitzia reginae is an easy plant to grow in the garden. Plants do well in full sun to semi-shade, love a rich loamy soil and plenty of water throughout the year. They respond well to regular feeding with a slow release fertilizer and compost. They are however very tolerant plants and will thrive in most soils and can survive with very little water once established. The plants are also wind resistant and grow well in coastal gardens. Strelitzias are sensitive to cold and would need a sheltered position in areas with frost as the flowers and leaves are often damaged by frost. In very cold climates it is better to grow them in pots that could be moved indoors when freezing temperatures are expected. Hardy zone 10-11

Mandelas Gold Bird of Paradise 10 Seeds - Strelitzia - Elegant - Rare
USD 3.99
Strelitzia reginae 'Mandela's Gold' or Bird of Paradise is a yellow variant of Strelitzia reginae that appears spontaneously. Because the cross-fertilization with Strelitzia reginae always produces orange flowers it took 20 years of hand pollination to obtain seeds that produce only yellow flowers. This work was done by John Winter, the curator of the botanical gardens at Kirstenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa. In 1994, there was sufficient stock of seeds to grow the plant commercially. Originally, the name Strelitzia reginae 'Kirstenbosch Gold' was awarded but was later changed Strelitzia reginae 'Mandela's Gold' in honor of Nelson Mandela.

Bird of Paradise White 10 Seeds Showy Tropical Flowers
USD 0.99
Bird of paradise tree is a spectacular accent plant. Use in pairs as sentinels guarding entries and gateways. Also a great plant for large containers situated both outdoors or inside. Indeed, large populations of bird of paradise tree now inhabit shopping malls all over the country. It's size and bulk make it suitable for large-scale commercial landscapes, golf courses, parks, campuses and mall food courts. The "big bird" likes enriched moisture-retentive soils. It responds enthusiastically to fertilizer, so feed about once a month during the warm growing season to stimulate rapid growth. When plants attain desired size you can withold fertilizer to slow growth and keep plant in scale. Light: Full sun to part shade. My observations indicate that the handsomest specimens are those that receive some shade during the heat of the day. Moisture: Water when dry. Does not like saturated conditions. Hardiness: USDA Zones 9 - 11. This plant is hardier than S. regina - it can handle brief periods of frost with no damage. Leaf damage occurs at temperatures below 28 F but plant will recover.

USD 1.99
Peacock flower is an evergreen shrub or small tree in frost free climates, a deciduous shrub in zone 9, and a returning perennial in zone 8. In the tropics it gets 15-20' tall and its ungainly, wide spreading branches can cover about the same width. In cultivation peacock flower is usually 8-12' tall, growing that large even after freezing to the ground the previous winter. The stem, branches and petioles are armed with sharp spines and the leaves are fernlike and twice compound, with many small, oval leaflets. Peacock flower lives up to its name with incredibly showy blossoms of orange and red. The flowers are bowl shaped, 2-3" across, with five crinkled, unequal red and orange petals, and ten prominent bright red stamens that extend way beyond the corolla. Bird of Paradise Plant YELLOW flowered - very rare
USD 8.95
'Mandela's Gold' Bird of Paradise is a yellow variant of Strelitzia reginae This work was done by John Winter, the curator of the botanical gardens at Kirstenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa. In 1994, there was sufficient stock of seeds to grow the plant commercially. Will grow up to 4 foot tall, and is hardy to 20 - 25 degrees or zone 9 and above. Ideal conditions are full sun, rich, well-drained loam soil with a pH of approximately 7.5, regular deep watering in summer and liberal applications of fertilizer in early summer. The tall flower stalks rise above the foliage, with a beak-like spathe growing outward, about 6 inches in length. The bright yellow sepals spread out to invite birds to perch on the blue petals, which contain nectar. The blooms make very long lasting cut flowers. This sale item is a starter plant about 4-6 inches tall and is actively growing in a 2.5-inch pot. Checkout our other items, we also stock the Orange and White varieties of Bird of Paradise.

Bird of Paradise Flower Seed - 100 Seeds
USD 9.99
Bird of Paradise flower seed produces a very unusual flower. This seed grows into a long-lasting 4 foot plant bloom that is similar in appearance to a bird's head. The center bloomstalk is 3 feet long and the multicolored bloom is 6 to 8 inches in length. Colors include orange, copper, blue and red. The plant likes temperatures above 50 degrees F, so in most places it is better to plant in a pot and keep indoors during the winter and move outside in the summer. Just do it slowly and acclimate it or the plant can get sunburned. Bird of Paradise flower seeds are slow to germinate, taking up to 8 or more weeks to germ, and it will take 4-7 years for the plant to start blooming. When planting, soak the hard seeds for 24 hours and remove the orange tuff of hairs. Plant and inch deep in moist potting soil. Plants bloom best when pot-bound, but if you need to repot a plant it might take a couple of years or more for the plant to start blooming again.
